ACS National HPV Cancers Roundtable Participates in IGCS ACCESS Symposium to Advance Cervical Cancer Elimination
On October 1, 2026, several members of the American Cancer Society National HPV Cancers Roundtable participated in the International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) ACCESS (Accelerating Cervical Cancer Elimination Strategies) Symposium, a North America Workshop held in Montréal, Canada. The meeting convened leaders from across the United States and Canada to explore practical, evidence-based approaches for accelerating cervical cancer elimination efforts throughout North America.
The workshop provided a dynamic forum for collaboration and knowledge exchange focused on advancing cervical cancer education, support services, prevention, and care. Participants explored the latest research and implementation strategies related to HPV vaccination, cervical cancer screening, treatment, health equity, and leadership, while identifying actionable opportunities to strengthen programs and improve outcomes across the cancer continuum.
Discussions emphasized the critical role of cross-sector partnerships and international collaboration in addressing persistent challenges to cervical cancer elimination. By bringing together researchers, clinicians, public health leaders, advocates, and community partners, the symposium fostered meaningful dialogue on innovative strategies to expand equitable access to prevention, early detection, and treatment services.
Participation in the ACCESS Symposium reflects the continued commitment of the American Cancer Society National HPV Cancers Roundtable to advancing cervical cancer elimination in the United States through strategic partnerships, evidence-based prevention initiatives, and collaborative approaches that increase access to HPV vaccination and high-quality care. Opportunities such as ACCESS demonstrate the value of bringing diverse stakeholders together to share expertise, learn from one another, and accelerate progress toward a future free from cervical cancer.
The roundtable extends its sincere appreciation to International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS), the ACCESS planning committee, and workshop leads Heather M. Brandt and Julie S. Torode for their leadership in creating a forum that inspires action, collaboration, and innovation in cervical cancer prevention and control.
