Jane Montealegre, PhD, MSPH
Vice Chair
Dr. Jane Montealegre is an Associate Professor of Behavioral Science at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. As a behavioral epidemiologist and implementation scientist, her research focuses on the design, implementation, and evaluation of community- and health system–based strategies to expand access to evidence-based cancer prevention services, particularly in safety-net health systems and other under-resourced settings. Her work centers on the prevention and early detection of cervical and other human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated cancers, with a particular emphasis on translating innovative screening technologies into practice. Dr. Montealegre has conducted extensive research on HPV self-collection as a strategy to overcome barriers to cervical cancer screening and currently serves as principal investigator on several studies evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of HPV self-collection in safety-net settings.
